A few suggestions to get the holiday planning process started
Discover different ways to explore Mauritius
Practical advice and inspiration to help you prepare for your holiday
Over the years Mauritius has become an increasingly popular holiday destination and rightly so. Travellers to this Eden-esque Island will discover a paradise packed with outdoor adventuring, snorkelling, and most importantly plenty of beaches for that all important sun basking. Spend lazy mornings wandering the island’s colourful markets and fishing villages, and your afternoons catching rays on the shoreline and sunset watching, before sitting down for a seafood dinner and a tipple to toast a trip well spent.
Le Morne hugs the southwest shoreline of Mauritius, offering beach lovers an unforgettable escape from the tourist hordes. The surrounding seascape and Morne Brabant hill act as the perfect backdrop for all things serenity and seclusion, with boat trips offering dolphin watching and panoramic views of the haven-like island. Of course, it’s not all relaxation and sun basking, with plenty of kite-surfing and parasailing opportunities for the thrill seekers too.
Gris Gris (so good they named it twice!) is a beachy destination with a difference, surrounded by a dark and rocky terrain; the absence of coral reefs here only heightens the intrigue and mystery. This enigmatic spot owes its jagged landscape to the harsh winds that have shaped the rockface and nearby local village of Souillac, on the southern tip of the island. Mammoth waves and knife-edge mountains dampen the howling sea, making for an epic coastline that’s well worth exploring.
