Travel Advice & Information
Our Africa specialists are here to tailor-make your ideal Botswana family holidays, designed to your exact specifications, and including our exclusive Original Travel additional services, such as fast-track check-in and security at the airport, and lounge access even if you're flying in economy. Then there are our fun packs for younger children (3-10) designed by children's party people Sharky & George and containing challenges and destination-specific quizzes for that all-important educational element. In Botswana itself, you have access to our clued-up local Concierge to make any last-minute tweaks to the trip.
So, what to actually do on your Botswana family holiday? If you have the time, we'd recommend a combination of a super-charged safari in the lush floodplains of the Okavango Delta with a stay in the pristine wilderness of the Kalahari Desert. Then, pack in activities from classic 4x4 safari drives to fishing and canoeing in the delta, and quad biking across the lunar-like Kalahari salt pans (children riding pillion, of course) for the ultimate, intrepid family safari.
The Okavango Delta is the place to introduce children to the magical wildlife (and birdlife) that calls Botswana home. Even better, we can arrange for expert photography guides to tutor your tweens or teenagers on the art of photography during game drive and capturing details, whether they are using a DSLR, GoPro or iPhone.
To teach the children something else on their Botswana family holidays - this time about other ways of life - you can spend time with hunter-gatherer Zu/hoasi Bushmen, who have the lived in the harsh desert environment of the Western Kalahari for thousands of years. Set off on foot with hunters to learn from their vast knowledge of the plants, animal behavior and desert survival skills.
Also in the Kalahari, you can spend a morning with a family of meerkats, following them as they forage and observing how they socialise and interact with their environment. Although wild, these captivating creatures are used to humans, making for some excellent photo opportunities for the family album.
