Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Your family adventure kicks off today. Head to the airport for your short two-hour flight to Venice, arriving in this floating city in time for a late lunch. We’ll arrange for you to be privately transferred to your hotel then it’s time to set off in search of some traditional cicchetti (Venetian-style tapas).

Although you’ll explore the city in more depth tomorrow, this afternoon, we recommend getting acquainted with its winding alleys and elegant bridges. Need inspiration? Our detailed Dossier lists our favourite things to do and places to eat in the city, with some fab family-friendly options (you’re welcome).

The secret to enjoying Venice with children? Keeping them captivated by its culture every step of the way. Luckily, our family-friendly guide is there to help. On a two-and-a-half-hour treasure hunt around the city, experience Venice’s grand palaces and art brought to life, with plenty of engaging stories and historical facts to spark young imaginations. Work as a family to find clues and solve puzzles as you navigate Venice’s maze of alleys, from off-the-beaten-track corners to iconic spots like Piazza San Marco and the Fenice Theatre.

The family fun continues this afternoon with a guided bike tour around Venice’s seaside resort, Lido Island. A narrow strip stretching eight miles long, this island separates the Venetian lagoon from the Adriatic Sea and is dotted with magnificent Liberty villas (the Italian variant of Art Nouveau style). Your local guide will take you past the island’s architectural treasures on a three-hour tour where you’ll pedal along the likes of Via Dandolo, Via Dardanelli and Via Marcello. Worked up an appetite? Reward yourselves with a creamy gelato on the beach.

Next on the agenda for your family's long weekend in Venice is a fascinating insight into the iconic Venetian traditions of gondola and mask-making. On a half-day guided walking tour, visit a squero (traditional boatyard) and meet the masters of this ancient art form, before heading to a mask-making workshop where you can uncover the secrets behind these celebrated city symbols. Budding artisans might even be inspired to get crafty on their return home…

After delving into the city’s artistic side this morning, treat yourselves to a leisurely lunch of exquisite Venetian seafood at a canal-side restaurant. Come early evening, sip on an Aperol spritz (or a spremuta – fresh fruit juice – for the children) while watching the sky turn pink over the canals. You’ll soon see why Venice is called ‘La Serenissima’.

Sadly, your long weekend in Venice is drawing to a close. Gather the little ones for one last stroll around the city and savour a final espresso or schiumetta (babyccino) in one of Venice’s charming campi (squares). Make sure you’ve stocked up on souvenirs (edible gifts are always a winner) before being privately transferred back to the airport for your flight home.
