Sugarloaf & Corcovado mountains holidays

The iconic mountains that appear in any self-respecting shot of Rio both offer superb panoramic views of the city, its bays and beaches. Jaws immortalised Sugarloaf's cable car by biting through its steel cables in the Bond film Moonraker but don't let that put you off. While Sugarloaf has the cable car ride, Corcovado has the breathtaking statue of Christ the Redeemer, so we advise that you visit both, braving the infamous Rio traffic between the two. Standing beneath the towering white Christ statue, his outstretched arms embracing the city over which he stands watch, is an unforgettable Rio experience; whether or not you have your photo taken alongside in the same pose is entirely up to you.
