With temperatures hitting single digits and snow blanketing most of the country, a Japan February holiday is the perfect place to wrap up and enjoy some winter fun. With festivals and holidays galore, these celebratory events will keep you busy while exploring the country’s winter wonderland. Many Japanese people celebrate the changing seasons with special holidays that are tied to ancient Japanese folklore. The famous and loved is the Snow Festival (also known as Yuki Matsuri), which typically takes place in February to celebrate the arrival of spring with elaborate ice sculptures and snow-related activities such as sledging and skiing. Japan's February holidays are a great time to visit, as crowds are small and you’ll find plenty of unoccupied onsens (hot springs) to warm your bones. If you're looking for something a little more energetic than soaking in hot water, take to the Japanese Alps with an experienced guide. The Japanese Alps are a vast mountain range filled with towering peaks, deep valleys and beautiful scenery. From traditional villages to modern ski resorts, these mountains are home to some of the best slopes in Japan.

"Joyce and her colleagues couldn't have been more patient and helpful. They listened carefully to our wishes and did lots of research to help us find the right itinerary and locations. The local Concierge was always available to help and provide advice or guidance. We loved everything about it - the places we visited, the food, the local guides, and the accommodation. Original Travel really were wonderful from start to finish - I can't praise them enough. We don't often use a travel company, but we couldn't have done this trip without you."

"Joyce was truly amazing. She knew the right questions to ask, was an exceptionally good listener, and crafted an itinerary that reflected my diverse interests. I have the highest praise for her skills, expertise, and knowledge. The app was great and organised a lot of information in ways that were useful and accessible. The Concierge team was fantastic."

"The Japanese hospitality at all locations was exemplary. The Concierge was always very helpful, and our only regret is that we should have used them more!"

The sprawling metropolis of Tokyo is a city of futurism and high-tech. Home to some of the most advanced technology in the world, whether it's at the forefront of robotics or futuristic skyscrapers - and some of the most thrilling theme parks on Earth. If the energetic streets aren't enough to keep you busy, there are plenty of festivals that can. The Kanda Matsuri festival includes traditional dancing performances by local children, or you can admire The Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival along the Sumida River (which flows through Tokyo).

If you're looking for an adventure, or just want to escape the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, there's no better place to go than the Japanese Alps. Zip down the glacier-carved slopes, hike through the beautiful alpine scenery and warm up in one of Japan's famous hot springs while taking in the fresh air.

If it’s the healing power of hot springs you’re after, Shuzenji is the place for you. The town is famous for its natural hot springs, which are believed to have healing properties. There are many hot springs in Shuzenji, but the most famous one is called Minamiaoyama Onsen. The water at Minamiaoyama Onsen is said to be good for your health - and great for relaxing your tired legs after a long day of sightseeing. The architecture in Shuzenji alone is worth a visit, known for its traditional Japanese style wooden buildings and bamboo fences along narrow roads.

The ancient capital of Japan, Kyoto, is lined with over 2,000 Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples, perfect for quiet contemplation. If you're lucky, your Japan February holiday might coincide with the start of the famous cherry blossom festival in Kyoto, when beautiful pink blossoms line both streets and trees.
