Travel Advice & Information
This ‘world in one country’ has plenty to offer in terms of luxury holidays, from safaris to wine tours to beach stays, and with the help of our experts you won’t have to choose between them. Our South Africa luxury holidays can encompass all of the best that the ‘Rainbow Nation’ has to offer. Start in Cape Town on the Western Cape, the oldest and second largest of South Africa’s cities. The beauty of this historic city can’t be overstated and many believe it to have the most beautiful physical setting of any city in the world. Surrounded by the shimmering Atlantic Ocean and presided over by the impressive Table Mountain, undoubtedly the jewel in this magnificent crown, the city is home to a collision of cultures and landscapes. We can organise an ascent up Table Mountain during your stay, which can be done either on foot or via cable-car. There’s an urban edge to the city too, with trendy bars, renowned restaurants and intriguing art to be discovered.
From here, head along the Wine Route to get a real taste of the country in Wellington, where we can arrange samplings from three of the finest wine-producing regions: Franschhoek, Paarl and Stellenbosch. Johannesburg is another vibrant city which mustn’t be missed, and as the largest city in South Africa it has a real buzz to it. Once home to Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu, the city’s sprawling Soweto township holds a significant place in the nation’s history. While here you can visit the house where Gandhi lived from 1908 to 1911 and learn about the country’s tumultuous history at the poignant Apartheid Museum.
If you’re hoping to spot some wildlife, safaris can also be incorporated into our South Africa luxury holidays. Kruger National Park and Sabi Sands private game reserve boast some of the best wildlife viewing in the world, with the opportunity to spot the Big Five and much more. This can be followed by a stay at an animal sanctuary in KwaZulu-Natal’s iSimangaliso Wetland Park to ensure you see the full array of animals that call South Africa home.
