Travel Advice & Information
Revelling in the South Africa winter sun, the multicultural Cape Town is waiting to be explored and discovered. See the Cape Dutch-style buildings, listen to some Cape Jazz in one of the many cool and alluring bars, or just take an evening ride on the Cape Wheel for great sights of the marina. Visit the Robben Island Museum to learn about the life of Nelson Mandela, try to spot Antarctica from the promontory at Cape Point, or take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain for wondrous views over this vibrant city.
For a foodie break, look no further than the Western Cape. Just an hour's drive from Cape Town, this picturesque area is home to the old town of Stellenbosch, known as the food and wine capital of South Africa. Stroll through the slow food village market for some treats or meander through cafes, boutiques and art galleries. In Franschhoek, or 'French Corner', hop on the Wine Tram to learn about (and, more importantly, taste) a couple or more of the best wines in the region.
Head off the beaten track and explore the eclectic KwaZulu Natal region; hike in the Drakensberg Mountains for picture-perfect views or go on luxury safaris in the Phinda Game Reserve to spot the 'Big Five', catch a glimpse of a black rhino and sleep under the stars. For even more wonderful wildlife, make a trip to the World Heritage site of iSimangaliso Wetland Park - a diverse region that protects five different ecosystems. From offshore reefs great for diving to woodlands and coastal forests for serene walks; and hippo and crocodile spotting in the St Lucia Lake to dolphin and whale sights in the Indian Ocean, South Africa has is all.
