Travel Advice & Information
As one of Zambia’s best-kept secrets and with the Zambezi at its core, the Lower Zambezi National Park is brimming with things to do. Its remoteness and unspoiled, sprawling nature make the park one of the most spectacular areas to spot wildlife – its wilderness is mesmerising. A day spent on and by the river is a must. Hop aboard a canoe and paddle along the channels of the Zambezi River with a private guide, keeping eyes and ears peeled for wildlife and birds. If fishing is your thing, grab a rod and wait for the river’s renowned tiger fish to take the bait before ending the day with afternoon tea or sundowners on a pontoon boat as the evening sun turns everything a shade of gold. The most obvious thing to do on a Lower Zambezi National Park holiday is to head out on a game drive in a rumbling 4x4 to try and spot anything from elephants and hippos to leopards and lions. Little ones will love ticking some of the 391 bird species found in the park off their check lists as well as hiking up to Chongwe Falls for a picnic and a dip. For culture lovers, a guided tour of a Goba village is the ultimate way to spend an afternoon between game drives.
