Elephant Camp
Elephant Camp has the best of both worlds - the boutique lodge (one of the few in the falls) is close to Victoria Falls with views of the spray, and is set within a private game reserve where elephants rule the way.
Accommodation is comprised of eight tents, all facing the gorge (that separates Zimbabwe and Zambia) and with a private plunge pool and viewing deck with spectacular views. They have private seating areas, air con, a bath and both indoor and outdoor showers.
With elephant roaming freely in front of the lodge, Elephant Camp is still very much a safari lodge. Elephant safaris are part and parcel of the camp experience, and other activities include trips to Victoria Falls town. At the lodge, guests can relax by the pool overlooking Batoka Gorge and the spray of the falls, or tuck into delicious food at the main dining area. Spa treatments are also available in the tents.
Why We Love It
One of the few boutique properties in the Falls region, and certainly the most romantic, Elephant Camp is a honeymooner's dream. Sunset views of the falls, champagne glass in hand, private plunge pool...need we say more?
Victoria Falls Safari Lodge
Set high on a natural plateau, the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge borders the Zambezi National Park and is just two miles from the Victoria Falls themselves.
The Victoria Falls Safari Lodge offers accommodation in a traditional African lodge style, but with all the comforts of a modern hotel. Each bedroom has its own balcony, air-conditioning and modern bathroom.
The award-winning MaKuwa-Kuwa is a split-level a la carte restaurant located within the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge's central hub with spectacular views over a waterhole frequented by buffalo, elephant, warthogs and various antelope plus a myriad of birds species. Two flights down from the restaurant, the open-plan Buffalo Bar serves all-day refreshments and tasty snacks, sundowners, and pre- and post-dinner drinks. It has its own game-viewing platform overlooking the waterhole.
There are numerous Victoria Falls activities to partake in around the Falls. These include elephant back safaris, flights over the falls, guided walks and more. The hotel is near to Victoria Falls town, and a complimentary shuttle service transports guests to the Victoria Falls and the town centre.
Why We Love It
The waterhole, which can be seen from the restaurant and the bar, is lit up at night so you can see nocturnal beasties not normally seen during daytime game drives.
