And on top of this there is no shortage of family-friendly hotels and resorts, with facilities for children of all ages, ranging from nursery facilities for the smallest guests to sports facilities, workshops and more for the older children; so you don't even need to leave the confines of your hotel to keep busy.

You will, of course, venture out, and when you do, we can suggest things like a hike along the coastline around the village of Gialova or the old castle at Paleokastro. Or walk to the Polylimnio waterfalls, which means 'many lakes' in Greek: and that's exactly what you'll find here: 15 fresh water lakes with waterfalls tumbling into them, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim. Or for something a bit different, explore Diros Caves, which were once thought to be the entrance to the underworld, by boat.

For foodie families, we can suggest a raft of culinary experiences, be it olive oil tasting, which is a must in a region so famous for its olives, or a Greek pasta making lesson. The region is also famous for its wine, so you could leave the children in the capable hands of the hotel's kids club for the afternoon while you enjoy a spot of wine tasting in a local vineyard.

If a touch of Greek culture is what you're after on your Peloponnese family holiday, we can suggest plenty of ancient sites to visit, from the famous theatre of Epidaurus (which is still used for performances today), to a behind-the-scenes tour of the ruins of ancient Mycenae, which was once one of the epicentres of Greek civilisation, and, according to legend, the home of Agamemnon, of Trojan War fame.
