Travel Advice & Information
From traditional towns and wind-blown deserts to magnificent mountains and a pristine coastline, Oman is bursting with delights. Our experts can create a bespoke itinerary that celebrates the best this country has to offer. For a family adventure, we know the top experiences to keep children entertained and immersed, from dolphin and whale-watching trips to nights spent in the wonderful Wahiba Sands desert in a Bedouin tented camp. Maybe you have a big anniversary coming up, or are looking for the perfect honeymoon location. Make romance and relaxation are the only orders of the day as you laze on the tranquil, palm-lined beaches of Salalah. Or perhaps you're just tired of being sat at the office desk and need some winter sun and something to get your blood pumping. Head to Ferrata for adventure in abundance, from diving and hiking to abseiling. It's all possible in Oman.
Chase away winter's chill with a tour of some of Oman's sizzling sites. Head to the coast to stay in a sleek and stylish seafront hotel and spend your evenings dining al fresco on a candle-lit beach as a watercolour sunset fills the sky. Venture north of Muscat and you'll discover the lesser-known town of Seeb, a foodie's paradise with an array of souqs selling everything from squid kebabs to traditional Omani sweets. If you're after an adrenaline kick, explore the 12 dive sites around the Daymaniyat Islands and spot large pelago fish, turtles, leopard sharks and even whale sharks over the coral gardens. If that's not enough diving delights for one day, boat over to Bandar Khairan and commandeer the sunken Al Munassir, a 3000-tonne sunken ship which is now home to a wealth of sea creatures.
Away from the shore, inject some serious heat into your winter sun Oman getaway with a trip to the magnificent Wahiba Sands desert. Accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, explore by 4x4 or atop a camel and soak up the otherworldly desert dreamscapes, from mighty mountains to oasis villages.
Conveniently for us Brits, the best time to visit Oman is generally between October and April, as this is when temperatures are at their most pleasant (sitting at around 29 degrees Celsius) and there should be little chance of rainfall. That means that the coldest months in the UK align perfectly for some Oman winter sun – what more could you want?
