The region also excels during the summer months, with the sunshine showcasing Andermatt’s countless mountain lakes, glittering glaciers and verdant valleys in their best light. Explore its eight surrounding alpine passes on bike or dare to cross the Devil’s Bridge, a historical landmark located across the Schöllenen Gorge, which marks the entrance to the Ursern Valley. The summit of Gemmstock mountain – at over 9,800ft above sea level – is worth venturing to, even if skiing isn’t on your itinerary, for panoramic views of the Swiss Alps and an ‘on-top-of-the-world’ feel.
