Inspiration for your own tailor-made trip
Canada - Montreal - Fogo Island
100% customisable for you
On arrival, private transfer to the avenue bordering the St. Lawrence Basin, not far from the Old Port. Two-night stay at a hotel that combines charm and character; a five-storey building that was alternately a depot, a warehouse, a general store and then a leather factory for more than 100 years, before being transformed into a hotel using the base of the old materials: wood, brick and stone. Special mention for the terrace that offers stunning views of the harbour basin.
A day to discover Montreal, the perfect fusion between Europe and America, a meeting point for many nationalities and a city that is alive and well in summer and winter alike.
Already included in the itinerary - Visit to Old Montreal with a private guide, between historical details, architectural perspectives and anecdotes from the past and present.
Things to see and do - The Pointe-a-Calliere Museum, with its remarkable architecture, which tells the history of the city against an archaeological backdrop - strolling through the alleys of the Mile End or along the St. Lawrence - the Plateau-Mont-Royal district, the 'village' of Montreal with its local market, lofts, designer shops, trendy bars and restaurants - the Old Port and its promenades - a break at the lookout in the middle of the squirrels - a tour through St. Catherine's Street to shop.
Domestic flight to Gander and transfer by private vehicle then ferry to Fogo Island Inn. Three-night stay in a suite facing the ocean and the steep shores.
Included in the itinerary - To get into good shape, spend the morning with an island inhabitant who knows the lie of the land. Enjoy an 'orientation' walk through the island, where you immerse yourself in its history and chaotic landscapes. It is also an opportunity to meet a former fisherman and visit the village of Joe Batt's Arm, before learning about the techniques of smoking cod or picking berries in season. In the afternoon, uncover the secrets of building traditional boats with a local builder, along with anecdotes and stories of his life between the wind and the water. And the next day, during the day, a local guide will come to pick you up at the hotel and take you on a trek through the tundra trails.
Private transfer to Gander and flight home. Overnight flight, arriving the next day.
