Itinerary Highlights

  • After Dubrovnik, explore the sumptuous landscapes of the Kotor Bay, one of the geological wonders of the Adriatic

  • Enjoy the comfort and historical charm of your accommodation from one city to another

  • Taste shellfish in the harbour, soak up the daylight, stroll around the ramparts.

  • Your itinerary includes a private guided tour of Dubrovnik and the Kotor Bay by speed boat.
The cities of the region have numerous ramparts that create a distinctive skyline. An open road brings together the bright and Croatian Dubrovnik and the romantic and Montenegrin Kotor. The two hotels we've selected for you share the same sophisticated and natural style. From one to another, we also pass from the open sea to the series of broader bays in Kotor Bay, framed by impressive mountain peaks. Drive along the banks of this breathtaking canyon submerged by the waters of the Adriatic. Peaceful villages with their bell towers, domes or clock towers point to the blue sky. Whether you want to take a dip in the water or get active on a hike, enjoy simply being at one with nature.

Dubrovnik and Kotor

Although shaken by both earthquakes and political upheavals, the city walls of Dubrovnik remain standing tall, and give the city its historical feel even among all of the changes that have happened as it's become a popular tourist spot. The UNESCO World Heritage site of Kotor, too, is surrounded by walls, at the bottom of the bay where you can kayak and sail with the backdrop of towering mountains and small fishing villages.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Transfer to one of the most beautiful hotels in the Adriatic for a two-night stay. A large house built above the sea in the early 20th century, it offers spectacular views of the old harbour and the island of Lokrum. Light streams in everywhere and the garden is a showcase of Mediterranean flora and gradually turns into the private beach, together with a seaside swimming pool. As for the spa and restaurant, they are the perfect way to indulge and pamper yourself.

Behind its ramparts, Dubrovnik is an exceptional museum-city, to be discovered with an expert local private guide. It's a beautiful and flowery layout, with monuments around every corner. The Church and Monastery of the Friars Minor (Franciscans) is a 14th-century Romanesque wonder and also houses a famous pharmacy. From the same period, there is also the ancient synagogue, the oldest Sephardic synagogue still in operation. The moving Gothic-Renaissance church of Saint Saviour dates back to the 16th century. The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin from the 17th and 18th centuries is perhaps the most beautiful expression of Roman Baroque in the eastern Adriatic. While you're here, it's also worth visiting the maritime museum, Umjetnicka Galerija and to a local cafe for a Turkish coffee.

Pick up the hire car and head for Kotor in Montenegro on a 50-miles coastal drive with incredible views. Enjoy a three-night stay in a palace built in the early 18th century. The Venetian touch is not surprising: at the time, the Venetian Republic controlled Cattaro. At the foot of the hotel are the waters of the Gulf, while behind it, it is surrounded by mountains. The garden and terrace are in perfect harmony with the building itself. The decoration highlights beautiful white stone, contrasting with opulent furnishings. The kitchen staff use traditional local produce - in particular fish from the bay - in dishes that show off local charm and flavours.

Included in the itinerary - Private speedboat day in the bay, from west to east: Herceg Novi, Gulf of Tivat, Verige (a narrow and enclosed passage), Perast and Kotor. You'll encounter small islands with ancient monasteries; wonder at the majesty of the landscape; take a dip in a quiet cove surrounded by oleander and mimosas; choose a nice restaurant where you can have lunch; set off again, stop at another cove, or on a beach as your heart desires.

The visit to the Bay and further inland offer some pleasant surprises. The small towns of Herceg Novi, Risan, Perast still bear the hallmark of their maritime past and are full of amazing spots where you can taste octopus salad, baklava or pomegranate syrup. Cetinje, the historic capital of the country, and Lovcen Park are not far away and are well worth a visit, and the road that connects Kotor to the summit of Mount Lovcen reveals magnificent stretches of the Dinaric Alps.

Drive to Dubrovnik. Return the rental car and catch your flight home.

Suggestions

Everything in this itinerary is entirely customisable, down to the smallest details. Here are some more suggestions of what could be included

Kayaking off Dubrovnik

the Adriatic is a great spot for kayaking. Head to Lovrijenac Fort and on to Lokrum. A few hundred yards offshore, it's a lovely little island with a dense canopy of laurels, pine trees, oaks and cypress trees. From here, head to the famous Betina Spilja, a very curious cave beach. Along the way, you can have a snack, snorkel and admire Dubrovnik's ramparts.

Optional - Half-day with a private guide
