And then there’s the coastline: long white-sand beaches bordered by beautiful towns, jagged cliffs and, in Trebeurden, huge pink-granite boulders. Brittany is also a region with a rich culinary heritage (particularly seafood, crêpes and cider) that you can sample in the exquisite restaurants of your hotels.

Head to the airport, whizz through security and enjoy some down time in the airport lounge before boarding a quick one-and-a-half-hour flight to Nantes. On arrival, collect your hire car and travel an hour and half to the beautiful village of La Gacilly. Your home for the first two nights of your holiday is a charming eco-hotel. Spend the rest of today settling into your new French environs before enjoying a delicious meal this evening.

For your first full day in Brittany, you’ll be heading into the heart of the nearby Paimpont Forest for a stroll through the moors, lakes and trees at the heart of the legend of King Arthur. The mere mention of this place conjures up a wonderful world populated by the fairy Vivien, Merlin the Wizard and Sir Lancelot. Continue on to the neighbouring village of Tréhorenteuc, before ending up at the castle of Trécesson. Round off today with an delicious dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.

Today you’ll be leaving the countryside behind, driving an hour and a half through moors and forests to the shores of the Gulf of Morbihan, an almost inland sea dotted with around 40 islands and lined with coastal paths, medieval villages, half-timbered houses and beautiful landscapes. Settle in for two nights in a charming hotel nestled in the heat of La Trinité-sur-Mer, a small and scenic seaside town. Spend the rest of today enjoying your new coastal surroundings before tucking into a tasty meal this evening.

One of the biggest attractions in La Trinité-sur-Mer is the incredible megalithic alignments of Carnac, a 7,000-year-old site considered to be one of the most important centres of European prehistory in existence. You’ll be armed with tickets to the site today, which is just a ten-minute drive away. The two main sites (Ménec and Kermario) alone account for nearly 3,000 menhirs (standing stones) and the alignments extend over almost four miles.

It’s time to bid farewell to La Trinité-sur-Mer, but don’t worry, your next destination is also on the coast. For the next two nights you’ll be hanging up your hat in a charming guesthouse in the coastal town of Combrit, just under two hours away. The next two days are yours to spend relaxing on this beautiful stretch of coastline, enjoying the many beaches and hiking trails on offer. Make sure to head back to the hotel in the evenings to enjoy the delicious dinners whipped up by the chefs.

Today you’ll be swapping the southern shores of the Brittany peninsula for those of the north, travelling just over two hours from Combrit to the seaside village of Trebeurden. Your home for the next two nights is a lovely hotel located on Pors Termen beach. Spend the rest of today relaxing on the sand before tucking into a tasty meal this evening.

Nicknamed the ‘Pink Granite Coast’ in homage to its beautifully-coloured rocks, the stretch of coastline from Trebeurden to Perros-Guirec offers no shortage of scenic delights. Today, you’ll be boarding a traditional sailboat to admire this jagged coastline and its many hidden coves from the ocean. Depart from the port of Trébeurden and sail out to the seriously scenic Île Grande, learning some classic manoeuvres along the way.

The time has come to bid farewell to the Pink Granite Coast and continue on to your final destination in Brittany: Saint-Briac-sur-Mer, on the Emerald Coast, a two-hour drive away. Settle in for two nights in a beautifully designed hotel near the beach. Spend the rest of today exploring the collection of nearby beaches before enjoying a delicious meal at the hotel this evening. Our team could also arrange for you to send the afternoon discovering the high cliffs of Cap d'Erquy on an electric bike.

For your last day in Brittany, you’ll be visiting nearby Dinan, one of the most well-preserved medieval cities in northern France. Head out with a knowledgeable local guide to discover the charms of the city: its ramparts, 14th-century castle and cobbled houses. Round off your tour with a visit to the small and scenic marina. We could also arrange for you to visit the historic port city of Saint-Malo with a private guide. This evening, settle in for one last delicious French dinner before travelling home tomorrow.

The time to jet back home had to come at some point. Drive one hour to the airport in Rennes to catch a speedy flight back to the UK.
