Itinerary Highlights
Discover New York City with a local guide
Stay in Manhattan’s trendy neighbourhood of SoHo
Relax on beautiful Caribbean beaches
Explore St. Barts freely with a rental car
The magic of this trip lies in its contrasts. The city that never sleeps is swapped for the slow rhythm of a Caribbean island; towering skyscrapers are replaced by palm trees dancing in the breeze. These two destinations couldn’t be more different, but this makes them all the more complementary. The trip begins in New York, with a few days in the city’s borough of Manhattan. Above Fifth Avenue’s luxury boutiques, Times Square and the MoMA, stand the Empire State Building, the Rockefeller Center and the One World Trade Center. New York’s essentials are yours to enjoy, but so are the lesser known (yet no less exciting) neighbourhoods of this iconic city. So that you can get to know New York a little better, we’ll arrange for you to take a walking tour with a local guide.
They’ll lead you along the trendy streets of SoHo, beside the brownstones of Greenwich Village and into lively China Town passing through Little Italy, so you can see New York City from a different perspective and live like a local for a few hours.
You’ll then catch a flight to the middle of the Caribbean archipelago. Saint-Barthélemy Island (more commonly known as just St Barths) might be known for its glamorous spots and famous visitors, but it offers a warm and friendly welcome to each and every guest. At Colombier Beach, put on your mask and snorkel and spend some time paddling among the sea turtles; at Gouverneur Beach, paddleboard or kitesurf on the turquoise water before relaxing on the white sand. While you’re here, you’ll have a rental car so you can explore every inch of the island at your leisure. If you’re wondering when the best time to take this trip is, the answer really depends on you. In summer, there are fewer tourists in St Barts, making for a more relaxing stay. In winter, the contrast between chilly New York City and the warm air of the Caribbean is all the more salient, and arguably all the more satisfying.
WHERE YOU’LL STAY
While you’re in Manhattan, you’ll stay in a chic hotel in the equally chic neighbourhood of SoHo. Comfort and creativity go hand-in-hand here, so you can expect beautiful Baroque furniture to be teamed with modern comforts and amenities. In the evenings, head to the bar to sip a cocktail and discuss what you’ll get up to the next day. In St Barts, your hotel will reflect the island you’re on: intimate, informal and refined. It sits at the edge of the turquoise lagoon, sheltered from the waves by a coral reef. Your bungalow has a small private terrace surrounded by a garden of tropical plants and flowers, and from here, you are moments from the translucent water. At dusk, head to the restaurant to enjoy Franco-Japanese cuisine in a romantic atmosphere. From the loungers beside the pool to the treatment rooms of the spa, time here moves at a tranquil pace.
Everything in this itinerary is entirely customisable, down to the smallest details. Here are some more suggestions of what could be included
A BROADWAY MUSICAL
Hailed by the New York Times as the musical show of the decade, Wicked immerses its viewers in the world of the witches of Oz. Set long before Dorothy arrived on the scene, this is the story of a green-skinned, misunderstood young woman and her unlikely friendship with a bubbly blonde. We can get you tickets to see this magical musical, or another of your choosing, on a Broadway stage.
BROOKLYN WITH A LOCAL GUIDE
On the other side of the Brooklyn Bridge there’s another world to discover, and we can organise for you to explore it with a local guide. During this tour, they’ll lead you through the neighbourhoods of Williamsburg and Bushwick, from the flea market where you can uncover vintage gems to the walls covered in graffiti and murals, they’ll ensure you take in all the highlights of this charming borough.
