Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Where better to begin your Norwegian adventure than in the country’s capital – Oslo. This morning, make the most of the airport’s lounge before you board your two-hour flight, arriving in the city at midday. Make a quick transfer to your hotel, dump your bags and freshen up, because the rest of the day is dedicated to a tour alongside a local. As you stroll around the city, your guide will tailor the tour to whatever you’d like to see – be it Oslo Opera House, Oslo Cathedral, or a selection of the best bars and restaurants.

Prepare to witness stunning Scandinavian scenery as you take the Dovre Railway from Oslo to Trondheim today. Over the next seven hours, admire views over the Gudbrandsdalen Valley, the Dovrefjell mountain range and Mjosa Lake, Norway's largest lake. After arriving in Trondheim, head to your hotel and hit the hay or venture out and explore what the city offers after dark.

Live like a Scandinavian on your first day in Trondheim with a guided bike tour. The three-mile stretch of flat cycle lanes makes this the ideal activity for swiftly seeing the city’s hotspots – the 11th-century Naidros Cathedral, the buzzy Bakklandet district connected by the Old Town Bridge, the Kristiansten Fortress and more.

Your second day in Trondheim is free for you to explore the city at your own pace. If you’re an art aficionado, spend a few hours exploring the impressive art collection at Trondheim Kunstmuseum. History buffs can marvel at the archaeological findings at the Archbishop’s Palace or take the ferry to Munkholmen, an island historically used as an execution ground, monastery, fortress and prison. In the evening, don’t let your tastebuds miss out on Trondheim’s locally produced food, from freshly caught fish to hand-picked berries.

Jump back on the train (this time, it’s the Nordland Railway) for today’s journey to Bodo, a stunning ten-hour journey that crosses 293 bridges, travels through 154 tunnels and even passes the Arctic Circle. You only have one night in Bodo, so check into your hotel and enjoy a meal at one of the nearby seafood restaurants. Make sure to get a good night's rest, as tomorrow will take you further into the landscapes of northern Norway.

Bon voyage! Today, you’ll take to the seas as you journey to Svolvaer in the Lofoten islands. This six-hour adventure passes through the Norwegian Sea's spectacular craggy coastlines and blue waters. Your home for the next three nights is inside one of the colourful fishermen’s huts (rorbuers) perched on Svolvaer’s harbour. Their authenticity doesn’t mean they scrimp on comfort, so settle beside the fireplace or relax on the balcony and enjoy your first night in Svolvaer

Today, embark on a thrilling RIB ride through the Øyhellsundet Strait into Raftsundet, ending in the breathtaking Trollfjord. From the boat, you’ll have the chance to marvel at the magical landscapes, pristine white sandy beaches and some of Norway's most dramatic fjords. The area is home to a large population of sea eagles, offering fantastic opportunities for close-up views of these majestic birds. Throughout the tour, you'll hear fascinating stories about abandoned fishing settlements, Viking history, Stone Age communities and the dramatic Battle of Trollfjord in 1890.

Kayaking in Lofoten is a fantastic way to appreciate the islands, peninsulas and rocky cliffs that make up this archipelago. Today, you’ll set off from Svolvaer’s harbour and paddle out on kayaks through the gentle waves to explore these vistas as part of a guided group tour. Return to solid ground with aching arms and impressive photos, before heading out for one final Svolvaer supper.

Collect your hire car this morning before setting your satnav for Ringstad, a winding three-hour journey away. Your reward? Arriving at the colourful port village and checking into Ringstad Resort, the perfect base for outdoor adventures. Tomorrow calls for a long hike, so take things slow with a hearty dinner and an early night.

Lace up your boots, because today you’re tackling Mount Vetten. Standing at an impressive 1,500ft high, it’s one of the most popular hikes in Vesterålen and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Lofoten islands. A guide will lead you along the four-hour trail, finishing with a steep section at the summit where you can rest your feet with a packed lunch and hot drinks in a mountain hut.

The following day, rest and recharge at Ringstad Resort or ask your local Concierge to organise an exciting excursion. The choices are endless: hiking, fishing, kayaking, cycling or experiences with the Sami people.

Buckle up for today’s drive to Andenes, three hours north of Ringstad and the northernmost point of your Norwegian adventure. You’ll be staying in another harbour-side cabin, so check in and spend the evening exploring the charming little village.

Climb aboard a RIB for an unforgettable whale safari adventure today. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, you’ll journey from Andenes to Bleik Canyon, spotting sperm, killer and pilot whales as you race across the waves. If you’re lucky, they might even show off their acrobatics with an impressive leap out of the water. After arriving back on land, unwind and make the most of your final evening in Norway.

Your final morning in Norway has sadly rolled around, and all that stands between you and the UK is a road trip and two flights. First, you’ll head south in your car to Evenes, where you’ll board a two-hour flight to Oslo. From here, you’ll hop on another plane and begin the final leg of the journey back to the UK.
