Due to the ongoing situation we regret that we are currently not considering trips to Russia. We hope for a swift return to normality so that our trusted partners in Russia can once again help you discover the beautiful side to their destination.

To seal your love Russian style, hang a padlock on one of the metal trees of the Luzhkov Bridge in Moscow, or smash your champagne flutes on the stone globe of Vasilyevsky Island in St Petersburg. Russia is sensitive to symbolism and has an irresistible inclination towards romanticism. With its gardens, baroque palaces, quays, as well as its small intellectual cafes, trendy restaurants, over-the-top nightclubs and art galleries, it is an ideal destination for a couple. The great historical sites are abundant but there are also some more under-the-radar spots, from the mixed cabin at the Sandunov baths to the up-market shopping at Elisseieff (Moscow), and from an art lover's trip to the Loft Project Etagi to a table football game at Fish Fabrique (in St Petersburg).

Your trip

Rose petals, a fresh fruit platter and a bottle of something sparkling in Moscow; more bubbles and a spa treatment for two, as well as a room upgrade in St Petersburg: your hotels are palaces, but palaces attentive to the particular needs of their guests. Palaces that are dedicated to making your honeymoon truly unforgettable. First visit the Red Square and the Kremlin on the other side of Moskova; then the Neva, across from the Admiralty. At each stop, you'll see the major monuments, with a private driver and guide. Once you've done this little tour, we'll let you experience these two exceptional cities for yourselves. From one to the other, you'll take the Russian high-speed train, travelling first class, for comfort, speed and excellent service. And if you have a sudden whim to do something different, you have the contact details of our local Concierges: it's their job to predict the unpredictable.

Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Transfer and accommodation for three nights in the heart of Moscow, on the banks of the Moskova, opposite the Kremlin. The Kempinski Baltschug is a perfect expression of stylish luxury. Built in the late 19th century it's an elegant and refined hotel with contemporary influences and From the premium grill, offering spicy T-bone steak, you can admire St Basil's Cathedral and the Kranzler cafe harks back to the brasserie style, which is one of the glories of central Europe. The swimming pool and sauna are great for relaxation, with friendly touches characteristic of Russia. The service is also impeccable throughout. The service is impeccable throughout the hotel.

Included in the itinerary - Moscow Highlights. Accompanied by a guide, visit Moscow's main districts and sites. Splendid monuments mark the route, including Pashkov House, a stunning neoclassical achievement by Vasili Bazhenov (1788); the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour (Constantine Tuna, 1883), the phoenix church where the band Pussy Riot became famous; the lovely church of St Nicholas des-Tisserands (1682), typical of the Naryshkin Baroque; the main building of Lomonosov University (Lev Vladimirovich Rudnev, 1953), from which you get a magnificent view of the city. In the afternoon, an hour's visit to GUM, the famous department store in Red Square. Founded in 1893, it is the Moscow equivalent of John Lewis, where more than 200 major brands share 1.5 miles of the shopping mall. On your way out, you can stroll around the square, where you'll also find Lenin's Mausoleum, the 16th century Cathedral of Vasily the Blessed (or St Basil's Cathedral).

Today you can visit the Kremlin as guests and admire the stunning collection of decorative art in the Armoury Chamber. And then go on to the Tretyakov Gallery, where you can get your fill of Russian paintings. The icons in particular are amazing. Rublev's The Trinity (1427), the Holy Face and the cloud-shrouded Dormition of Novgorod (12th century) are universal masterpieces. Then there is the enigmatic Black Square on a white background by Kasimir Malevich (1915). The VDNH Park, a kind of open-air museum of Soviet era architecture, is surprising. And back to Vinzavod, where a dozen prestigious art galleries have moved into a former wine warehouse. Together, they are an important artistic hub. Since its inception, the centre has enjoyed steady success.

Transfer to the station, high-speed train and first class to St Petersburg. Accommodation for four nights in the W Hotel, within sight of the Admiralty tower and close to Nevsky Prospekt. The restaurant provides European cuisine with contemporary influences: lightness, flavour, precision. In terms of well-being, the indoor pool, spa and gym are all fantastic.

Included in the itinerary - The bourgeois highlights of St Petersburg. A tour of the city accompanied by a private guide. You'll begin by going to Hare Island where the Peter and Paul Fortress stands: the Romanovs have been buried there since Peter the Great. Then there is the Field of Mars, on which Paul I loved to exercise his troops, and the Marble Palace, with its imposing neoclassical facade, and the Summer Garden. There is an eclectic feel to St Petersburg. Elements could feel like London - St Isaac's is modelled on St Paul's Cathedral, while parts could also look like Brasilia.

Compared to conservative Moscow, St Petersburg is a young, bustling city behind the impeccable contours of its palaces. Designed as a theatre of power, it is also home to intellectuals and the arts. It is best discovered by foot; walking through its many palaces, along the lattice of canals, sumptuous museums, peaceful parks and a thousand corners where the spirit of the Russian Enlightenment is still hidden.

Transfer to the airport and return flight.

Suggestions

Everything in this itinerary is entirely customisable, down to the smallest details. Here are some more suggestions of what could be included

The Kremlin - Moscow

Stop in Cathedral Square, where the famous churches are located, such as the Church of the Annunciation (15th century), whose icons contain paintings by Andrei Rublev, that of St Michael the Archangel (16th century) in the Venetian style and that of the Dormition (15th century) where Ivan IV, or Ivan the Terrible, was crowned. Its civil and religious buildings make it possible to read in architecture the political and cultural history of the country since the 15th century, from Ivan III, or Ivan the Great, to Vladimir Putin. Visit with a private guide.

Option - Half day

The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour - Moscow

Built in the late 1800s on the banks of the Moskova River to commemorate the victory over Napoleon, it was destroyed by Stalin in 1931. It was then a question of building a Soviet palace instead. The project did not go any further than the foundations, which were re-purposed as a public swimming pool in 1958. After the fall of the USSR, the church was rebuilt as an identical replica, thanks to effective crowdfunding among the faithful. Today it is the seat of the Moscow Patriarchate. This triumphant Russian-Byzantine monument boasts a panoramic platform with spectacular views of the city's stunning architectural mosaic. Visit the site with a private guide.

Option - Half day

Pushkin and Pavlovsk - St Petersburg

Tsarskoye Selo (Pushkin, from 1937 onwards) is located about 15 miles south of St Petersburg. Accompanied by a private guide, visit the Palace of Catherine II and its gardens and the Pavlovsk Palace which the Empress gave to her son Paul. There is something less majestic here than in the large palace complexes of St Petersburg, but there is a lighter touch, and always a stunning grandeur.

Optionl - Full day

Hermitage Museum - St Petersburg

This is one of the most beautiful museums in the world. The vastness of the art collections presented here is literally dizzying and it is certainly helpful to have a guide to help you find your way around and go straight to the Benois Madonna (Leonardo da Vinci, 1482), The Stolen Kiss (Jean-Honore Fragonard, 1786), The Dance (Henri Matisse, 1910)... And the Egyptian, Greek, Roman antiquities, decorative arts, are no less fine.

Option - Half day

On return, we take care of returning the router, so that it can be recycled.
