Itinerary

100% customisable for you

Congratulations on tying the knot - now it's time for your Rwanda & Kenyan Coast Honeymoon. Your flight from London to Kigali, the Rwandan capital, leaves in the evening and takes around 11 hours, including a stop in Brussels en route.

You will land in Kigali this morning, where you will be met by a member of our friendly ground team who will then whisk you to your lodge, situated in the foothills of the mighty Virungas. This string of 15,000ft volcanoes stretching through Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo with sensational views and access to the adjacent Volcanoes National Park. The drive should take around two hours on good roads.

When you arrive, stretch your legs with a gentle stroll around the grounds, taking in some of the stunning views before your first supper in Rwanda and a good sleep before your safari activities kick off tomorrow.

The lush rainforest of Volcanoes National Park is home to seven groups of habituated mountain gorillas. Today you will be lucky enough to join an expert guide, setting off on a trek to find mountain gorillas in this remote part of Rwanda. After meeting your guide at the park entrance you will then spend several hours trekking through the dense foliage, spotting other wildlife en route to finding a gorilla family. It's hard work and you'll be walking across steep slopes, but the walk is well, well worth it. Once your guide locates a group you will then have a full hour to sit and watch these majestic creatures - some of our closest cousins - as they go about their daily routine.

Following your time with the mountain gorillas, head back to your luxury lodge and spend some time relaxing over a leisurely dinner as you let the once-in-a-lifetime experience really sink in.

After all the excitement of yesterday, today is another memorable day on your Rwanda and Kenyan Coast Honeymoon. We have organised for you to head back into the rainforest again this morning, this time in search of the region's endemic golden monkeys. These brightly coloured and big-cheeked monkeys are both adorable and agile and, with your guide, you'll spot them swinging from the trees in the forest canopy.

After lunch back at your lodge, this afternoon will be spent learning more about the research programmes at the heart of the region. Start by visiting the grave of world-renowned mountain gorilla researcher Dian Fossey. As well as teaching you more about the incredible research Fossey did, your guide will also introduce you to some of the most scenic spots in the forest.

After a busy day, enjoy a final dinner at your lodge and then sit and soak up the scenery for one last romantic evening on your honeymoon before switching countries tomorrow.

After one last breakfast in Rwanda you will be transferred back to Kigali for the one-and-a-half-hour flight to Nairobi in Kenya, where you will be met by one of our Kenyan ground team. They will transfer you across to Wilson domestic airport and from there you will fly an additional hour and a bit to Ukunda Airstrip near Diani Beach on the Kenya Coast.

You will be met and transferred to your beachfront lodge for the next - more conventional - stage of your Rwanda and Kenyan Coast Honeymoon. Settle into the lodge, and maybe go for a barefoot stroll along the beach before sundowners and a romantic candlelit dinner.

After the early starts of your Rwandan adventure, the next few days are yours to do as much or as little as you want in this blissful beachfront spot. Diani Beach is a great spot to try a number of fun activities, such as snorkelling and dolphin watching boat trips, kitesurfing and kayaking. Alternatively, just soak up the sun on the beautiful beach, and in the evenings enjoy eating out at local restaurants, including one very romantic one in a candlelit cave.

Sadly today is the last day of your Rwanda and Kenya Coast honeymoon, but there's one last morning for a lazy lie-in before your return to reality. After a last long lunch you will be transferred back to Ukanda Airstrip for the return hop back to Wilson Airport. Transfer across to the international airport in Nairobi and board your overnight flight back to the UK. The flight takes nine hours.

Your flight lands back in London in the early morning.
