Where's Hot in November?

November might mean shorter days and dwindling sunshine at home, but that doesn’t mean you have to swap your sunglasses for woolly hats just yet. There’s an abundance of hot places in November, free from crowds and full of outdoor activities. From Thailand’s bustling Bangkok and Morocco’s maze-like Marrakech to the sun-kissed sands of Cyprus and Barbados, plenty of destinations are still gloriously warm at this time of year. November ushers in the dry season in Thailand, swapping monsoon showers for warm, dry weather. Touch down in busy Bangkok for highs of 33°C and an abundance of city sightseeing. Visit the capital’s ancient temples and admire the world-renowned reclining Buddha in Wat Pho (at 150ft, it’s hard to miss). Or head north on your November holiday to Thailand for sunny skies and pleasant temperatures. Explore Chiang Mai’s lush rainforests and misty mountains before heading to neighbouring Chiang Rai for a stroll through Wat Rong Khun – nicknamed ‘the White Temple’.

When it comes to choosing a November hot holiday, our Australia expert Meg recommends a sunny trip down under. Temperatures range from 22°C to 26°C in Sydney and Melbourne, while the Outback and northern regions can reach highs of 33°C. Make a beeline for Sydney before the summer rush and jump aboard a private boat for the best views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Then, make your way to Melbourne for a cafe-hopping adventure in Fitzroy or bask in the sunshine on a stroll through the Royal Botanic Gardens. To see another side of Australia, venture into the Northern Territories and visit Uluru, where milder temperatures and blossoming wildflowers await.

Argentina

Plan your holiday to Argentina in November to dodge the peak season crowds and enjoy warm, comfortable weather. Begin in Buenos Aires before the sweltering heat kicks in and discover the capital’s lesser-trodden treasures. Skip busy La Boca and explore the hidden street art of Coghlan or flick through the books in Eterna Cadencia bookshop – a quieter alternative to the popular El Ateneo. Make the most of the dry conditions and head to El Chalten and El Calafate in Patagonia for picturesque hiking trails. Or, head north to the Salta region, where temperatures hover around 21°C and the usually arid landscape is at its greenest.

Barbados

Next up on our list of where’s hot in November is Barbados. Despite falling in the rainy season, November showers are often fast, fleeting and followed by bright skies. With its world-class resorts and sea-sprayed coastline, a holiday in Barbados is all about relaxation. Enjoy the peak 30°C temperatures and head to Bathsheba on the island’s east coast. November is prime surfing season at the village’s iconic Soup Bowl, where sizable northern swells create powerful right-hand barrels. Or, for a city escape, Bridgetown awaits. Bask in the sunshine and admire the architecture in this historic port city, which earned its title as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2011.

Malaysia

In November, Malaysia’s tropical climate offers a mix of hot, dry conditions on the west coast and stormy weather on the east. Enjoy early morning sightseeing in Kuala Lumpur (to avoid the afternoon showers) and stretch your legs on a climb up the iconic 272 multi-coloured steps to reach the limestone Batu Caves. Not far from the UK, Morocco is the perfect destination if you're after a taste of summer. Head to Marrakech for a short, jam-packed trip, where temperatures climb to 24°C. Get lost in the city’s tangle of narrow alleys or mooch around the richly stocked market stalls. If you have more time to kill, venture into the Atlas Mountains for crisp, sunny days, minimal humidity and pretty panoramas. The Canary Islands

Last up on our list of hot places in November is the Canary Islands. Enjoy highs of 24°C and hop your way around the archipelago’s seven scenic islands (Gran Canaria, La Palma, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Gomera and El Hierro), while soaking up the sun.
