Oman’s coastline is an underrated gem. This beach lover’s paradise is nothing like its neighbours – forget skyscrapers and designer boutiques, Oman is home to traditional ancient souks, Bedouin camps and gorgeous natural landscapes. An Oman beach holiday is a guarantee of hot weather and sun, as temperatures rarely drop below twenty degrees Celsius all year-round. And if you’re up for exploring, you’ll find that there’s so much more to Oman than beaches and sunshine. Go inland and enjoy vast desert, dramatic mountains and historic castles. Explore the labyrinthine ancient souqs and barter with the locals for frankincense and myrrh. Or just stick to the coast and bask in glorious sunshine - we wouldn’t blame you, beach holidays in Oman are unforgettable just as they are.

Oman Beach Holidays Guide

Practical advice and inspiration to help you prepare for your holiday

An Oman beach holiday is the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind. And while there is plenty to do and see away from the coastline, we know that the pull of the sea and sand is hard to resist. So we’ve rounded up a few of our favourite Oman beaches to help you decide where to head first:

Ras Al Hadd

Every year, mother turtles lay their eggs in the warm sands of Ras Al Hadd. For an unforgettable experience on your Oman beach holiday, watch their babies make their journey into the sea. And even if you miss it, you’ll still be able to spot their markings in the sand. This beach is also steeped in history – during World War II, fighter planes gathered here and you can still see some evidence of them today.

Al Mughsayl

This beach is a favourite with locals and tourists alike, so you’ll likely find lots of people playing sport on the sand. It’s an impressive six miles long, making it the perfect place for a romantic evening stroll on your Oman beach holiday. And best of all – there’s a neighbouring cave to explore and a dramatic blowhole where the sea sprays up through the rock like a geyser.

Duqm’s hidden beaches

Duqm is a port town halfway between the cities of Muscat and Salalah and is surrounded by deserted beaches. Get away from humankind and back in touch with nature on your Oman beach holiday – these beaches are home to armies of crabs, countless rare birds and reefs teeming with marine life. With the help of our experts at Original Diving, we could also organise snorkelling or diving trips so you can get even closer to Oman’s underwater world.
