A Long Weekend in Rome

DAY 1 ARRIVE IN ROME

This morning, you’ll board an early two-and-a-half-hour flight to Rome so you can make the most of your time in this incredible city. When you arrive, you’ll head straight to your hotel near the central square of Piazza Navona, a place where you can really feel Rome’s pulsating heartbeat. Many of the city’s best sites are within walking distance from here, so after setting down your bags, it’s time to get out and explore.

The city is awash with beautiful Baroque architecture, from Bernini’s Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi to the church of Sant'Agnese in Agone. After soaking up the atmosphere in this vibrant area, head down one of the adjacent streets for your first real Roman bowlful of cacio e pepe or carbonara. This afternoon, the question is not what to see, but where to start. From the Roman Forum to the Colosseum, the elegant boutiques around piazza di Spagna to the Centrale Montemartini, the city is full of historical sites and contemporary culture to satisfy any traveller. On the other side of the Tiber, you’ll find Castel Sant'Angelo and the Vatican. When you need a break from all that sightseeing, the city’s countless trattoria, gelaterie and osterie are yours to choose from.

DAYS 2 & 3 CITY TOUR WITH A LOCAL

We’ll arrange for you to see the Eternal City through the eyes of a true Roman today. Your local guide knows Rome like the back of their hand and can help you to discover it authentically and according to your desires. Why not begin with a maritozzi brioche bun and a cup of coffee before continuing to the Campo de' Fiori flower market? When you’re feeling peckish again, stop for a pink grapefruit ice cream at a traditional gelateria before continuing to explore, whether that means going on a shopping spree, heading to a little-known spot for a view of the seven hills, or wandering around a concept gallery. We’ll also arrange for you to visit the Villa Medici while you’re here, one of Rome’s most beautiful villas whose history, cultural importance and architecture will be revealed to you by a knowledgeable guide. You’ll have the rest of your time in Rome to spend at your leisure.

DAY 4 FLIGHT HOME

Spend your final morning in Rome visiting any last attractions or sites, or simply sipping a cappuccino in one of the city’s rustic cafés as you watch the locals go about their daily lives. You’ll also have plenty of time for a final bowl of pasta before heading to the airport for your evening flight back to the UK.
