Flores holidays

The slow paced island village of Flores is often overlooked as a mere start off point for trips around the Peten region, but it is worth spending a few hours exploring its pretty cobblestone streets flanked by handicraft shops and charming pastel coloured houses. As you wander the streets you'll stumble across a historic Church, the Spanish plaza and some lovely little restaurants. Flores is a quiet and peaceful place, which only takes about 15 minutes to walk around, but you can easily spend an afternoon soaking up the relaxed atmosphere here. As you circle before coming in to land at Flores Airport, take a peek out of the window to see the 'island' of Flores – joined by a causeway to the mainland – sitting prettily in Lake Peten Itza.
