Philantourism in the Caribbean holidays

Sipping cocktails on the beach; snorkelling and diving in the turquoise ocean; exploring local culture and history; hiking and cycling with unbeatable natural beauty as the backdrop... all while supporting the rebuilding of a country's tourism industry after a natural disaster. Sounds like the ultimate win-win, but this scene is far from too good to be true in the Caribbean. In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma (which devastated St Barths and Anguilla), and Hurricane Dorian (which swept through the Bahamas), many hotels, resorts, homes and tourist attractions were damaged, but the islands have bounced back with the help of visitors enjoying these little slices of paradise.
