Slovenia is one hour ahead GMT. It has daylight savings time from March to October, which is the same as the UK.

Money

The local currency is the Euro. Many merchants accept payment by credit card (especially Eurocard-MasterCard and American Express) however, it is a good idea to have cash on hand for small expenses and trips to the countryside.

Electricity

Standard voltage is 220 and two-pronged European type sockets are used.

Shops and Amenities

As a general rule, merchants open from 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and on Saturday mornings. Banks are open from 8.30am to 12.30pm and from 2pm to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday (8.30am to 12.00pm on Saturdays).

Post

There are post offices in all towns (variable opening hours). Delivery time for mail to other European countries is between three and eight days.

Phone

To call the United Kingdom from Slovenia, dial: 00 - 44 - area code – and a landline number or 00 - 44 – plus a mobile number.

There are a few internet cafes in Ljubljana. The mobile coverage is good overall, however we recommend that you check with your operator on the local network access conditions.
