Travel Advice & Information
Part of our Tanzania family holiday expertise lies in suggesting the best itinerary given your children's ages and inclinations, the time available, and the time of year you're intending to travel. In Tanzania you are spoilt for choice, basically, with vast wildebeest herds spending nine months of the year in the country as part of the Great Migration. The much-photographed Northern Serengeti river crossings occur in early summer and calving season in the Southern Serengeti is in February. Or consider heading to the iconic Ngorongoro Crater - a vast natural zoo - or the less well-trodden national parks of the Selous or Ruaha for 'rawer' safari. Heading west, teenagers would be strong enough to trek to see habituated chimps in Mahale, or climb Kilimanjaro, and over 16s can also enjoy the thrill of a walking safari followed by a night fly camping in the bush with just a mozzie net for cover.
And then there's the icing on the Tanzania family holiday cake: the sugary sands and warm waters teeming with fish and watersports galore along Tanzania's coast and in the Zanzibar Archipelago - the so-called 'Spice Islands'. Zanzibar itself is a hot sport for snorkelling, diving (for older children) and dhow sailing boat cruises. Aquatic children will be in their element, but it's also worth coaxing them to visit fascinating Stone Town, Zanzibar's capital and an excellent cultural interlude.
Our Africa experts are on hand to tailor-make your perfect Tanzania family holidays, which will include our exclusive Original Travel additional services, such as fast-track check-in and security at the airport, and lounge access even if you're flying economy.
