India Safari Holidays

India is perhaps not the first country that comes to mind when planning a safari holiday, but the country is guaranteed to surprise and delight with its natural beauty and intriguing animals. This is a destination that is chaotic, sensory, inspiring and serene all at once, and it’s this spirit that is captured by our India safari holidays. If you’re keen to catch a glimpse of India’s national animal, the parks of central India offer some amazing tiger safaris. Madhya Pradesh’s reserves, Panna and Bandhavgarh, are home to the largest population of Bengal tigers in the world as well as a multitude of other creatures to discover including leopards, monkeys, deer, reptiles, wolves, birds and antelopes (among many others).

India Safari Holidays Guide

Practical advice and inspiration to help you prepare for your holiday

Our expertly crafted India safari holidays include an array of cultural highlights, an ideal accompaniment to your wildlife adventure. Accompanied by an expert guide, learn about the colonial past of Calcutta as you visit the Jain Pareshnath Temple, Tagore House and the Marble Palace. From here, head to Varanasi, which includes a trip to the bazaar and the Ganga Aarti ceremony - a religious ritual paying tribute to the Ganges. More temples are included in your visit to Khajuraho, where you’ll see ones dedicated to Vishnu and Shiva, dating back to 950 and 1025. All of this comes before you venture into the heart of the jungle to begin your scenic wildlife safari.

Your journey begins in Panna National Park, where you’ll stay at the stylish and comfortable Pashan Garh refuge. Panna was once a royal hunting ground before becoming a protected Tiger Reserve in 1994. Today, it plays host to five species of wild cat (leopard, jungle cat, rusty spotted cat, caracal and of course, the Bengal tiger). The cuisine of India is another draw, and the ingredients here are largely sourced from the organic garden so tuck in and enjoy a smorgasbord of regional dishes by candlelight beneath the jungle canopy.

The final stage of your India safari holiday will take you to Bandhavgarh Park, situated between the picturesque Vindhya and Satpura mountain ranges. The lush terrain is home to the highest population density of tigers in the country, meaning you’ll be perfectly positioned to spot the King of the Jungle. And, if you cast your eyes upwards, you’ll see an array of intriguing birds with over 350 species residing in the foliage overlooking the park.
