Travel Advice & Information
Original Travel has visited all the exclusive luxury camps found on the edge of lagoons or tucked beside the waterways, and each offers a spectacular Okavango Delta safari holiday experience. The camps invariably accommodate only a small number of guests at any one time, ensuring an intimate and personal atmosphere, and each offers something slightly different in terms of wildlife, scenery and activities: some areas are renowned for their high concentration of predators; others offer a blend of desert aridity and floodplains.
One or two luxury camps offer extraordinary riding safaris, where guests can explore the Okavango Delta on horseback. Mobile safaris are also a wonderful option to explore the region as the camp moves with the game, your comfort is not compromised and the intellectual journey is seamless because you have the same guides throughout the trip.
Depending on the season, game-viewing is also conducted by 4x4 vehicles and guided walks, while during the annual floods, the narrow waterways of the delta are best explored by traditional mokoro dugout canoes with experienced guides pointing out the abundant wildlife, from fish eagles circling above to buffalo drinking at the water's edge. On the subject of fish eagles, we can arrange opportunities for dedicated bird watching safaris in the Okavango Delta as well.
