Family Hawaii holidays

Seven inhabited islands (and one uninhabited wilderness) provide a full spectrum of outdoor activities to thrill the whole family. Spending plenty of time in the water is a must - especially with children in tow - and there is plenty of marine life to spot while you snorkel, dive or swim. See giant manta rays, sea turtles and dolphins, and hop aboard a boat for a family whale-watching adventure. Learn to surf (and try not to get frustrated if the little ones pick it up quicker than you) and enjoy plenty of beach walks while the kids run ahead to find shells.

Back on land, immerse the whole family in nature. Head to Kauai - Hawaii's 'Garden Island' - and hike through the dramatic scenery that formed the backdrop of Jurassic Park. Head to Big Island for otherworldly landscapes and volcanic sand beaches, and to Maui to drive the famously dramatic switchbacks on the Road to Hana.

Once you've had your fill of nature, spend some time on the island of Oahu and visit the city of Honolulu. Shop for souvenirs, take a private tour of Pearl Harbour to load up your kids with fascinating historical facts, and duck into one of the city's impressive art museums to inject some culture into your family holiday.
