Travel Advice & Information
Our team of Americas experts are on hand to recommend and reserve the best accommodation, tailor-make the best itinerary and arrange fun and interesting activities throughout your Christmas in Mexico. And when you're actually in Mexico our clued-up local Concierges are on hand to make any last-minute plans so you don't have to move a muscle. In short, it should be the most relaxing Christmas you've ever had.
Mexico is a big country, and has a huge amount to offer, but some destinations within Mexico are particular Christmas crackers. In our humble opinion, no Mexico Christmas holiday would be complete without the following…
If you're limited for time, or keen to stay in one place for the duration of your Mexico Christmas holiday, then the Yucatan Peninsula is the place for you. Beautiful beaches, adventures activities galore, some of the finest of all Mayan ruins and charming Spanish colonial era towns all within easy reach make the Yucatan an absolute winner.
Elsewhere, the underrated capital Mexico City is worth a look because the Mexicans know how to party, and Christmas is celebrated with gusto (factoid: the bright red poinsettia plant that is often displayed at Christmas comes from Mexico).
Finally, we'd recommend spending time in Oaxaca, Mexico's cultural capital and somewhere to enjoy the country's fine cuisine (and tequila), and shop for beautifully made handicrafts. This is also somewhere to appreciate the curious and charming synthesis of Catholicism and more ancient Mayan beliefs that make for a truly original Christmas spirit.
